Very desir
able, but pricey. Not sure about that 360 engine... Wouldn’t the engine be 361 from that era?

It is. My neighbor picked up one needing an engine for a gargantuan $4000.

But this one has the cool wrinkly paint job. My first vehicle was a 1972 Ford B600 school bus, 72 passenger, 38 feet long.

Ok I’ll give him that it’s rare - 47 year old crew cabs with 4X4 and 3 pedals aren’t falling out of trees.
But lol nope

360 was the common “small” FE engine from that time, looks like the 361 was the “industrial” FT engine for large trucks.
But that price does seem to reflect the amount of money put into it. I’m not sure about that bedliner paint job though. That’d be nearly impossible to strip off for a repaint.

And the wrinkly paint job on the body. I want to get excited about that truck, price aside, but something isn’t letting me. Upholstery on the seats? Updated steering wheel? Wrinkly paint? Seems to me like it doesn’t quite know what it wants to be, and once you change it from what it was , in my book anyhow, the ROI flattens out dramatically.

Your first vehicle was a bus!?!?

In a manner of speaking, yes. In Virginia, 17-year-olds could possess a school bus license and I went to work for a redneck bus outfit and kept the bus parked a couple of blocks from my home, behind a church. I was on the opposite side of town from the owner’s property. I drove that bus all over the place. Treated it like my own personal vehicle. Went to it late at night in Winter and idled the engine for heat and sat on it and partied. It was a blast.
EDIT: I do not recommend entrusting 17-YOs to drive people on school buses.

Cool truck, but definitely too spendy. I found a crewcab ‘71/360/manual 2wd in what looks to be very similar condition for $7k, a good friend bought it. 4WD is cool but does not add $16,000.

Insane. Good story to have. Is that law still on the books?

I’d say put it on Bring-a-Trailer, but it’s too much changed from original to fetch a ridiculous price. That’s my opinion...

I really enjoyed driving that thing. Great deal of fun. And the funny part is, for being yellow and 38 feet long, I was completely invisible. Nobody looks twice at a school bus.
Superior Coach, just like the one in the bottom picture. The picture above is a few years newer than mine was. But the same otherwise. 1972 B600.

There’s a Blue Book value stated for a 1972 vehicle?

That’s actually relatively inexpensive for a 4x4 crew cab from that era. In the North West this truck in this condition would sell easily at 30K.
Looked up in the search bar where this is located:
I used to live in Novato!

That does not surprise me, but this one is just off somehow. I think it’s not stock enough to command a high price.
